PRIORITY III: Robust systems for belonging and well-being

We will prioritize the well-being and sense of belonging in safe spaces for all students and staff by cultivating student voice and implementing evidence-based wellness strategies to reduce and respond to bullying, harassment, discrimination, and other forms of exclusion.

GOAL 1: By 2027, each and every student will receive support for behavior and academics to access grade level experiences and success.

Year 1 Goals:

  • By 2024, we will establish a consistent district Intervention Team (I-Team) process and an aligned I-Team process at each building to review and act on a student’s data around behavior and academics.

  • By 2024, school-wide expectations  will be in place in every school for Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS), including proactive teaching of expectations.

Year 2 Goals:

  • By October 2024, school wide PBIS expectations will be posted, taught proactively and a plan for student recognition for their positive decision making will be created. 

  • By January 2025, staff will receive training on how to embed State Social Emotional Learning standards (SEL) and connected Work Readiness Standards, into their content. 

  • By January 2025, we will strengthen I-teams with specific Tier 2 and 3 options district wide. 

GOAL 2: By 2027, we will identify, develop and leverage community partnerships to support student wellness

Year 1 Goals:

  • By 2024, staff will know and understand the systems for referring students and families to mental, social and emotional health support.

  • By 2024, we will clarity for the roles and responsibilities for support positions in the schools, including school support specialists,  school psychologists, and others) and how to access them.

Year 2 Goals:

  • By 2025 we will develop a more substantive understanding of and a better relationship with the community resources we interface with (health/wellness; mental health; physical health; etc.). 

  • By 2025 a landing page for families and staff will be developed to share resources and connect community partners for student wellness. 

GOAL 3: By 2027, all students will report a sense of belonging and be able to identify one trusted adult, or describe a school-related community to which they belong.

Year 1 Goals:

  • By 2024, a system will be created to identify students who are not known by an adult in the building in order to ensure that intentional efforts are made to connect with every student.

  • By 2024, regular attendance rates for students will increase by 5%, and we will eliminate predictability of chronic absenteeism in marginalized student groups.

  • By 2024, we will strengthen recruitment, retention, and representation of our faculty and staff through elevated conversations to improve our understanding of the experiences of all educators across all ethnicities and ensure a productive work environment and supportive adult relationships for our students.

Year 2 Goals:

  • By 2025, each secondary student will have a trusted adult and activity, sport or interest listed in Synergy (or other program for ease of access for staff connection). 

  • By 2025, we will utilize (and create multiple opportunities) for student voices and student ideas to drive efforts in this strategic plan area at both the primary and secondary level. 

  • By 2025, regular attendance rates for students will increase by 5% by understanding barriers for individual students, and partnering with parents and families.
