A Community-wide plan comes to life

The strategic plan for Oregon City represents a remarkable collaborative effort driven by the power of community. Dr. Spitzer, after a thoughtful listening tour in the schools and community, launched the planning work in January 2023. A dynamic 40-member Steering Committee, including several incredible middle school and high school students in OCSD, was assembled, and together with the community, the Steering Committee meticulously crafted a shared vision, mission, and core values that resonated with the hearts and minds of Oregon City. Their commitment went beyond theory; it involved a deep understanding of the community's pulse. They diligently studied over 1,700 responses to a community-wide survey, scrutinizing themes identified in thousands of open-ended comments. These valuable perspectives, along with an in-depth analysis of the district's academic and behavioral data, shaped the course of action outlined in this document. A spirit of collaboration and hope for the future drove the process. Over 30 focus groups, 6 Steering Committee meetings, 4 Board workshops, and countless hours contributed by the school district leadership team solidified the foundation and details of this strategic plan.
