PRIORITY IV: ENGAGED COMMUNITIES

We will work to foster strong partnerships with families, community organizations, and other stakeholders in order to expand opportunities and partnerships and promote communication and involvement. We will engage families and community members in the education process, building relationships with local businesses and organizations, and working collaboratively to address community needs.

GOAL 1: By 2027, our schools will experience consistently high levels of family/caregiver involvement and participation in school activities or events.

Year 1 Goals:

  • By 2024, we will monitor and improve communication methods for sharing information about school events.

  • During the 2023-24 school year, we will study family/caregiver involvement and participation in school activities or events that support academics and/or career or college readiness.

  • Following completion of the family/caregiver involvement study, we will develop an action plan for cultivating consistently high levels of family/caregiver involvement and participation in school activities or events, building on the established baseline data and moving to realize the 4-year goal.

Year 2 Goals:

  • By October 2024, our schools/district will communicate the importance (the “why”) of volunteers to both community members and families and will encourage new partnerships.

  • By January 2025, each school will clearly communicate volunteer opportunities in the building with and without student contact. Schools will share and create consistent volunteer tasks/job descriptions for different volunteer opportunities at each academic level.

GOAL 2: By 2027, all volunteers will be meaningfully connected to students and schools. We will increase partnership and mentorships for students to enhance student success.

Year 1 Goals:

  • By 2024, an analysis will be conducted to evaluate our existing mentorship programs and tools to measure effectiveness for students and volunteers.

  • By 2024, school staff members will  identify and communicate ways for volunteers to be involved in schools. Identify potential mentoring partners and begin to establish or expand mentoring programs in secondary schools.

  • By 2024, we will remove obstacles that hinder volunteer registration and enhance the ease of the registration process by incorporating language and cultural considerations.

Year 1 Goals:

  • By June 2025, we will communicate new, expanded ways that families/caregivers can volunteer at both the secondary and elementary levels.

  • By November 2024, we will create a process to support new volunteers prior to starting to volunteer in our district.
